Diving Disease Research Centre

Project Description: Diving Disease Research Centre

DDRC Healthcare is based on Plymouth Science Park in Derriford. As worldwide specialists in diving medicine, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, and medical training, they have an enviable range of highly specialised staff, facilities, and knowledge.

At their Plymouth headquarters, they operate a centre containing decompression chambers for the diving community and also offering hyperbaric services to the NHS. Growing interest in the benefits of accelerated wound healing from hyperbaric treatment has attracted funding from the NHS and the University of Plymouth who have jointly sponsored a project to expand the service and explore new avenues of research.

Work on site was completed in 2021 with the MRI unit installed, and the existing centre remaining fully operational throughout the project.
